Insurance Coverage for Drones and Risk Management Strategies
Construction contractors need to know where and how to find insurance coverage for the commercial use of drones, whether they are flying such drones themselves or outsourcing that task. Commercial General Liability (CGL) policies are unlikely to provide the required coverage and stand-alone aviation policies are really intended for manned aircraft. This WebEd will address the various endorsements that can extend a contractor’s GCL policy to provide coverage for at least any bodily or personal injuries, or property damages, arising out of drone operations. It will also address the insurance industry’s larger reaction to the commercial use of drones. Changing gears, this program will then identify the key terms and conditions that a contractor needs to include in any contract for drone services. The bottom line is that such a contract may or may not provide meaningful protection from liability for drone operations, depending on its terms and conditions!
